What it does
Six things that today live in six different apps.
Live tracking, debrief, chart, social, season and club. Each of those layers exists on its own out there, and none of them talks to the next. Racie is the join.
Live race tracking
One phone per boat and the whole fleet shows up on the map, in real time, for the people on the beach. Standings update themselves while the race is still running.
The read on your race
At the end you don’t just get a map. You get how many tacks you made, what each manoeuvre cost, where the shift came in and how your start went.
A real nautical chart
Your position on official charts from the Brazilian Navy, NOAA and DIHIDRONAV, with a distance and bearing ruler. Navigation aid: it does not replace the official chart.
Night vision that respects your eyes
When it gets dark the whole app turns red on black. It is not a filter on top: it is a second palette, drawn in full.
Profile, boats and season
Your sailor profile, your registered boats, your season in miles and hours. Post photos, follow other sailors and push your sails to Strava.
Live racing
The whole fleet, live, from shore.
Every boat broadcasts its own position. Whoever stayed ashore follows it in the app and watches the course draw itself, with standings updating on their own. The club rents no tracker.
- No signal out there? The map shows the last known position and picks up again on its own when the boat reappears.
- Following costs nothing: whoever is ashore opens the app and picks the race.
- After the race, Replay runs the whole thing back with the fleet moving.

The report is made of sentences with a number inside, not of charts for an engineer. And when the track doesn’t allow a wind estimate, the app says so, instead of showing a pretty number that is false.

Night vision
Red on black, because your eyes take twenty minutes to come back.
Scotopic vision, the rods, the ones that work in the dark, is virtually insensitive to wavelengths above ~620 nm. So at nightfall the whole app turns red on black: not one white, blue or green pixel on the screen. It is the same reason aircraft cockpits, observatories and chart tables use red light.
And because roughly one man in twelve cannot tell green from red, no information in the app rests on colour alone: the state is also written out and shown by an arrow.

Pure black background: on an OLED screen an off pixel emits no light at all, and that is extra battery on a long race.
The start
Numbers big enough to read with sun on the screen and the boat slamming.
Distance from the bow to the line, from the bow and not from the phone. Time to cross computed from closing speed, not from speed over ground: a boat parallel to the line never reaches it. Favoured end, bias in degrees and the advantage in metres.
It ships switched off, on purpose
ILCA and Optimist forbid electronic instruments on board, and the ILCA test is what the device is capable of, not what you use it for. The start assistant is born disabled and is only unlocked class by class. Always check your Notice of Race first.

The timer jumps to the nearest whole minute when you tap on the gun, because the committee rarely starts on the exact second of anyone’s watch.
Privacy
A track says where your boat lives, and at what time you are not on it.
That is why the privacy zone exists: a circle around your home port inside which your track arrives cut off for everyone, except you.

Every sail is public, followers only or private. You choose one by one.

Live tracking for your club, without hiring a tracking service.
Publish the calendar, take entries and stream the race to the beach. The live map is free. The per-boat tracking bill that today blocks live coverage of a club race simply does not exist here.

Survey closed on 2 September 2026: the CBVela calendar, 55 Brazilian yacht clubs checked one by one, state federations, the sailing press and 276 notices of race read in PDF.

Five languages
Translated for a sailor, not for a dictionary.
Each language carries the racing vocabulary of its own country (cambada, tack, virada, empannage, virata) and the RRS wording as it is used there. The numbers change with the sentence: 7,4 kn in Portuguese, 7.4 kn in English, 7,4 nd in French.
Who builds it
One crosses oceans. The other writes the code.
Racie was not born in a meeting room. It was born from two people who spend their weekends wet.
Ocean sailing
Theodora PradoThe first woman to complete the Cape2Rio single-handed, the crossing from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro. Some 3,500 miles of South Atlantic in 29 days, aboard a 31-foot boat built in 1981, with four-metre waves on the final stretch. She left a career in finance at 23 and, in four seasons, added five Atlantic crossings. She sets the bar for what Racie has to survive out at sea.

Product and engineering
Fernando ZomerOffshore sailor and developer. He races aboard Pangea, of the Iate Clube de Santa Catarina, overall champion of the 51st Ilhabela International Sailing Week and winner of the 70th Santos to Rio Race in RGS Overall, 53 hours upwind against 15 to 25 knots. Ashore he runs EZA Engenharia, in Criciúma, Brazil, and founded Easy Alert. He wrote Racie from scratch: the app, the server and the sailing maths.

How it is built
Offline first
There is no signal out at sea. The track lives on the device and the upload queue waits on disk with growing back-off. No point is lost because 4G dropped on the way back from the mark.
Never invent a number
When the track doesn’t allow a wind estimate, the card says so and asks for the data. The estimate carries a confidence from 0 to 1, and the app behaves differently below 0.5.
Tested on every change
The sailing maths (VMG, cost of a manoeuvre, bow-to-line distance, scoring) is covered by automated tests that run on every change.
Sign in with what you already use
Apple, Google or Strava. And if you want, your sails go to Strava on their own.

What people ask before downloading.
Where do I download Racie?
The app is in the final stretch before reaching the App Store and Google Play. Message us on WhatsApp and you will hear from us on launch day. The download will be free and there will be no subscription to record, analyse, post and watch a race live.
Do I need any equipment on board?
No. Everything comes from the phone’s own GPS, including the wind direction estimate, which is computed from your track. There is no sensor, no rented tracker and no instrument to install.
Does it work with no internet out at sea?
Yes. Recording and analysis run on the device. Whatever was recorded without signal sits in a queue on disk and uploads by itself once you have internet again.
Does the app replace an official nautical chart?
No. The Racie chart is a visual aid to navigation and the app says so on screen. Do not navigate by it: use official charts and the equipment required for your vessel.
Can I use it during a race?
It depends on your class. ILCA and Optimist forbid electronic instruments on board, and the ILCA test is what the device is capable of, not what you use it for. That is why the start assistant ships disabled. Always check your Notice of Race.
Is it paid?
Recording, analysing, posting and watching a race live are free for the sailor, and small events are free for the club. The core of the product does not sit behind a subscription.
Which languages does the app speak?
Five: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian. The app follows your device language and you can change it inside the app.
How do people ashore watch the race?
In the app itself, on the races tab: the map shows the fleet moving and the standings so far, updating on their own during the race.
What happens to my location?
The track is yours. You set a privacy zone around your home port, choose the visibility of every sail, download all your data whenever you want and close the account from inside the app. The coordinates stored inside photos are stripped on upload.
